Trump, Trudeau and all other political leaders need to change

My Canada mid October 2017 will comment on a couple of issues starting with a commentary on politics and politicians that many not involved in some level of politics would likely agree upon.
Worldwide politics today is distant in character from the 20th century and far from anything our forefathers allowed in the 19th century. America’s Donald Trump would never have survived in the past using the antics the Americans seem content to allow today. The American president isn’t the only world leader of a so-called democracy practicing dictatorial rule that wouldn’t have been tolerated in the past. Alleging the media is corrupt and against his administration seams simply a way to make certain his image is always in the news. Many believe his rants about media corruption and accusations the media are trying to take down his administration. Of course most media is simply falling for the accusations and giving POTUS (President of the United States) the publicity he craves and by some accounts needs to remain relevant. That is especially true when even Canada’s government supported CBC news outlets carry Trump activity as primary coverage for a disproportionate time every day. It is difficult to believe Trump isn’t a Canadian entity while watching the news. To be fair CBC does cover most of the news pertaining to happenings in My Canada. However it seems (maybe mistakenly) the majority of coverage and first line reporters with CBC are stationed in the United States while Canadian events are largely reported by staff working at local or regional CBC facilities. The situation appears to lead to much deeper U.S. story coverage and of course that reporting is primarily Trump news. Anyone following the news and social media reports with respect to many if not most media specialists in both Canada and the United States are becoming more convinced opposition within the U.S. is mounting to such a degree the POTUS might either be removed from power through a variety of processes or will press the nuclear button endangering the entire world. We can only hope the end result will be the former rather than the latter.
While on the subject of politician Donald Trump something should be said about politics and politicians in general including the crop governing Canada at every level. From Federal to Provincial and even municipal politics it seems everyone winning a seat in any political arena needs to serve the political party. In the case of municipalities the party is a ruling group caused by mutual support for each other’s agenda. Political representatives are now undoubtedly more dedicated to serving a political party or self serving group than the electorate. Members will always claim everything they do is to benefit voters but is often more aligned with party needs leading to votes in the next election. The fact only municipal mayors are elected to leadership roles in Canada while the prime minister and provincial premiers are selected by party members is pretty much proof the situation has evolved for the benefit of political parties.
The Trump phenomena in America and unbridled support for Canadian leaders selected by party members is being challenged in so many ways as gigantic change of everything political is likely on the near horizon. As mentioned, Trump seems under attack as his polling numbers decline with every report. In Canada the stumbling of the Trudeau Liberal government for straying from its promised agenda of reforms to give power back to the people is telling in its polling decline. The radical change in the New Democrats appearance and leadership is something that only the future will determine for the degree of success the NDP might realize. When it comes to the progressive or Conservative party of Canada the decline of the Harper government after the 2015 election was a hard act to follow. The change in direction with the new leader to strengthen the party in general with a fairly right wing agenda seems more intent on being nice while following all the protocols of political correctness. The planned change might draw in some old time left wing voters but will probably not related to the younger generation if that group decides to begin voting in larger numbers.
Altogether politics probably has to change dramatically for any of the traditional Liberal, New Democrat, Conservative, American Republican or Democrats to regain the respect of voters. The developing change isn’t anything most people will expect probably because history records democracies have a lifespan of about 200 years give or take a few decades. The current democracy, cherished as ideal by North Americans in particular, began primarily with the American revelation in 1776 or there about. It is just about due for another change in some aspects.
