TIME TO END PETTY POLITICS AND FIND A TRUE LEADER

MY Canada will reflect the feelings of a great many Canadians this week. Perusing social gatherings indicates a sharp divide in the age groups and the candidates each age group appears to be backing. Polls it seems are a reflection of the party the pollster is contracted with to guage public opinion or fashioned as giveaway numbers in hope of gaining favour of one of the major parties. The experts claim the numbers do reflect some aspects of public intention in voting day but are more useful to party war-room staff for molding the next offering for the public to be swayed in the right direction adding to the numbers. The only poll that will really count as claimed by all the parties is the one the voters fashion on the night of October 19, 2015.
Pundits say this is unlike other elections using the length of the pre-vote campaign and other insignificant jargon. The real reason the campaign is drawn out is undoubtedly partisan politics. All activity related to the election campaign strongly indicates Canadian voters have three major politicians to chose from not ant displaying the true character of leadership. The agenda driven by the Harper Conservatives is proving the others are simply political parties and don’t have the qualities required to reflect real leadership The Harper government is leading the pack by setting the agenda on every issue. The CPC war-room allows the others to try and assure voters they are a real alternative to Harper but in reality are simply following the CPC lead into every debate and issue. The media actually gets more diversity into the debates than any of the parties. Senate problems and threatened reform along with two women seeking citizenship while wanting to cover faces as a religious symbol after confirming identity are not real election issues. However if the polls are to be believed that is the criteria for spending money to elect a government. The situation dictated it seems by war-rooms of each party is to attack opponents rather than offer voters real alternatives.
There are so many issues the other parties could use to convince voters a change is really necessary aside from those the Harper led government is dictating as campaigns issues. The aboriginal situation is something that must change or the nation will undoubtedly be faced with disintegration, some form of civil disobedience, or even civil war. Most non-aboriginal Canadians seem to believe the government increase spending is ill conceived and vocally resist supporting increased spending. The problem is not money ill-directed, but a lack of programs designed to change the situation. Infant death, sexual abuse, low education levels, uncontrolled drug cultures on reserve, early aboriginal’s death and youth jailing all contribute. Some more centralized reserves closer to large population centers are refer to as disadvantaged and although some look affluent enough compared to some non-native towns and villages the hundreds living in squalor on isolated reserves to not fit the description. Politicians do give the problem lip service and empty promises of reform but the situation it seems based on war-room strategy cannot compare with women from Mid East cultures hiding faces during a government ceremony or the fact the government needs to change the political influences the Senate represents.
Then there is the sad shape of Canada’s military while Russia begins bombing targets the western nations do not believe are ISIS controlled. Canada’s navy is without supply ships and any type of battle ready ship to defend our Arctic regions and our soldiers are barley equipped past using toy rifles for training exercises. The nation has a few ancient jet fighters bombing similar targets and more than likely easy prey if forced to face the well equipped more modern Russian aircraft.
The refugee crisis hasn’t become a major issue in Canada to date thus the parties once more almost ignore the problem creating conflict and hardships everywhere in the western world but Canada and the United States. Millions of people it is reported will need to find safer homes. All the political parties once more only pay limited attention to the issue feeling it seems the winner will have to make decisions once in control. Will that scenario consist of the same politicians attacking the others through media advertising and social network commentary in an effort to win some future election while ignoring the unfolding sometimes frightening future realities?
If Canada really wants to get back to being a country concerned with world situations as part of the solution rather than the problem voters can only hope to elect a minority government seemingly on the horizon. A three party coalition of sorts might appear producing a so- far unidentifiable leader with an image not requiring political playacting and useless rhetoric about the other party’s failures. A leader that ignores the political foolishness prevalent in the elxn#42 campaign with a staff selected to avoid if not completely end the grade school student demonstrations displayed with the clapping and cheering during parliament’s Question Period and the petty politics played during this election campaign.
