Politics today affects news coverage and tax dollars to private contractors

Many people agree today’s news is boring. The reason is change that happened over the years as many if not most news people morphed into opposition critics rather than traditional journalists researching and reporting on issues. Print media news programs readers, radio listeners and television watchers should be able to form their own opinions based on the reporter or commentator information not be influenced by the writer's personal opinion. Such views are usually based on good or at least acceptable subject matter but is stills a personal opinion. Aside from a few, such as CBC’s Peter Mansfield for example and other's from the more presentation rather than opinion era, differ from more recent news media personalities constantly expressing personal opinions on their own articles. The situation is reflecting the catch phrase, “of course I’m right, I am so and so.”
Today’s social media including personal sites gives most people personal opinions based on reporters and other news media reports. The voter after all gives opposition members the right to criticize ruling party actions based on primarily shared facts relating to issues. The media should report on the subjects but commenting should be left to the elected opposition or in the case of the media a commenter designated and identified as representing the outlet with opinions supported by the source firm. The media voicing opinions on current issues is similar to today's social media reporting. Many people believe the rhetoric and half truths appearing on social media sites automatically attributing the comments to professionals. The situation is not a positive change and could affect many facets of our future democracy and lifestyle.
Several other recent changes in the way political news is reported, discussed and enacted are causing major changes in the way politics are now conceived. Ontario’s decision to expand electrical service while developing massive spending projects is an example. The decision escalated the cost of buying electric power to consumers, commerce and industry to such an extent that some low income people claim the price is affecting the family ability to buy food. Electrical generation programs or projects it appears are apparently not openly discussed in government including all parties. Appointed energy boards and professionals make the decisions costing taxpayers the ever escalating fees. Most people if not everyone involved in generating and developing the crucial energy sector are high income earners and might not be cognoscente of the fact escalating numbers of taxpayers are becoming unable to pay the price. Change is needed to deal with the situation, such as an impossible cure since the energy community is actually an independent body. The energy board and hydro administration is given complete control over the people charged with administration and generation of electrical power. It is actually a no-win situation to complain as presently structured except to change government party control. However changing government doesn't change such well controlled institutions.
The final situation reflecting change from the traditional is the current reports concerning Ontario’s road maintenance programs. Not many years ago the provinces roads were maintained by civil servants employed by the Ministry of Transportation. Today independent often international contacting firms controlled by the world’s financial sector are given the job of maintaining the roads usually by hiring subcontractors. Once the private sector gains control of any essential sector profit becomes the primary consideration. Lip service is always given to assure the change from people paying the bills is realistic and necessary. Profiting from the former unionized employment to private firms contracts is not usually better it seems as attested to by the current claims of the contracted firms lying about the degree of program and project completion is actually taking place. Politics allowing foreign firms to control programs meant to safely benefit residents doesn't seem to be something politicians should support for any reason. But the love of money often supersedes the best use of public funds.
